National Geographic Learning Delivers Training Support to Help Instructors Inspire Advanced Placement Learners

Professional Development Materials Aim to Increase Student Engagement and Success

Boston, MA—June 10, 2014— Educators attending the College Board-endorsed Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Institutes will receive professional development materials through a donation of nearly 30,000 textbooks from National Geographic Learning (NGL), part of global education company, Cengage Learning.   Additionally, NGL will provide copies of the AP Test-Prep Workbook Fast Track to a 5 and other resources to assist workshop leaders in training AP teachers to better prepare students for academic success.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the AP Summer Institutes,” said Vincent Grosso, sr. vice president, National Geographic Learning. “Our mission is to inspire learners. Professional development opportunities such as the AP Summer Institutes ensure that instructors are resourced to increase student engagement, preparation and success in the classroom.”

The AP Summer Institutes are subject-specific professional development opportunities that provide teachers with the support and training needed to effectively teach AP courses. These four-to-five day workshops are attended by teachers from around the world and provide an opportunity for educators to exchange ideas and information about AP courses and available teaching materials.

NGL offers a wide range of programs that support AP instructors and engage students with content and digital learning tools. For more information about the various AP products available, please visit ngl.cengage.com/ae.

NGL is an exclusive partnership between Cengage Learning and the National Geographic Society. The company believes that learning can be exciting, inspiring and transformational when students are engaged with their course materials. Many NGL products draw on the real-world accounts of National Geographic explorers, scientists, writers and photographers.
