With a Focus on Delivering Value to Libraries Worldwide, Gale Names New Senior Vice President and General Manager

 Farmington Hills, Mich., November 5, 2014 — To further strengthen its position as a leader and innovator in the library market, Gale, part of Cengage Learning, today announced Paul Gazzolo as Senior Vice President and General Manager. In this role, Gazzolo will lead Gale’s strategy, product development, sales and marketing teams, and continue to identify ways Gale can partner with libraries to help them deliver value to the communities they serve.

“As Cengage Learning reinforces its investment in Gale and the research market, Paul is exactly the right person at the right time,” said Jim Donohue, Chief Product Officer, Cengage Learning. “His experience in shifting markets and leading digital, global transitions will serve us well as he extends the Gale brand internationally and uncovers new opportunities for growth, development and service to our library customers.”

Bringing to Gale a wealth of experience in digital product innovations and online product and market development, Gazzolo will be charged with growing Gale’s brand globally. Specifically, he will lead the expansion of Gale’s collections, platforms, programs and content partnerships with leading institutions worldwide. Gazzolo will concentrate on advancing and expanding Gale’s position as a company that provides measurable value to all types of libraries, through its products, curriculum alignments, and advocacy.

Gazzolo is a veteran of the research space, coming most recently from Wolters Kluwer CCH Tax & Accounting serving as the General Manager of the Research and Learning business. Before his tenure with Wolters Kluwer, Paul served as President of World Book where he led the transformation of the encyclopedia publisher into a digital innovator. He also worked at LexisNexis Group, first as Vice President, Marketing and Communications and then as Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for strategy, revenue and profit.

Gazzolo holds a BA in English and Economics from Hamilton College. He will be based out of Gale’s Farmington Hills, MI office effective immediately.
